Re: cooks rock
Cook's rocks is an area of rocky foreshore around to the right of the bribie bridge on the mainland side. You can reach it at low tide by walking to the right from the bridge or by turning right at the traffic lights just before the bridge into the Pebble Beach (?) development and going down to the waterfront parking areas then walking to the left. The area is only good for land-based fishing at high tide as it's all just mud flats at low tide. I've fished there a lot in the past mostly around dawn or dusk and at night. The main catches were always bream and flathead. There is a rectangular structure known as 'the fish trap', built by kanaka workers (importedfor harvesting sugar cane) in the 1930's (I think). It provides some nice structure to fish around. On the mud flats either side of Cook's Rocks there are plenty of yabbies, but the mud is fairly soft, so be careful or you can get very muddy. Map attached.
