    north pine

does anyone fish much above the train bridge in the Nth Pine. i do a fair bit of fishing up there and was wondering if anyone else has had much success. i consistently get good bream and flathead as well as the odd Jack and cod. Also do ok for bass in winter.

I got scared off one night by some gentleman trawlers (it wasn't fish they were trawling for by the way) and haven't gone back to the spot. Road bridge stops me and day time only. If and when I try again I'll upgrade my fishing knife to something more appropriate.

Yep the surrounding areas arent the nicest places at the best of times, it would only ever be a day time spot for me aswell. Pitty though as i can imagine some decent fishing up that way. Does anyone do any fising from canoes or alike further upstream from the bridge, how do you go?

You can go upstream of the railway bridge but watch out for the tides as the stretch of river along Sweeny's Reserve dries at low tide.

There is a large pool upstream of Sweeny's that hold nice fish including mullet, trevally, bream, flathead, tarpon and jacks. Further upstream there's bass and the odd golden.

I go up there fairly regularly with my tinny but you really need to be aware of the tides.

That area is known as a looser hang out so i would not fish it by night. And if you go it must be high tide as it emptys out at low water. I have never caught anything there myself though.

Have seen some reports over the past couple of years of big bream around the railway bridge. But have only ever caught catfish in that area. Nearly caught a good size greyhound just west of the rail bridge one day.
