Bream Fishing
I was reading an old fishing magazine yesterday when I came across an article on Bream fishing techniques. It said that one way of inviting more bites from Bream was to drift out about three times the length of line as the depth of the water you are fishing, while holding onto your sinker and when :questionyou have the required length of line out, to drop your sinker overboard. The article claims that that the sinker moving to the bottom pulls the bait through the water covering all depths and inviting strikes from Bream.
I have never heard of this before yesterday, guess it makes sense!! But has anyone else tried it? And, if so, does it work as the article promises?
Cheers

Re: Bream Fishing
Its a variation on what we used to call the "pickers doom"
best fished on a handline when you can feel the weight come on or the delicate bites
rig up hook, short trace, swivell and chanell sinker above.
When at anchor lower to the bottom the slowley feed out line.
The current will take the bait away from the boat.
The bait moving unempeded in the current invites the strike and your fingers on the line detect activity better than any rod or real

Re: Bream Fishing
that sounds like a good idea. I often drift baits out with the reel open and hold the line in my fingers, and usually fish with one finger on the line at all times. It is amazing how much you can feel. I haven't tried holding the sinker back for a while and then dropping it but will.

Re: Bream Fishing
I use a snap swivel with sinker attached.Cast out to required distance attach snap swivel and wait the sinker slowly moves down line taking bait closer to the bottom. Wind in remove snap and start again. Similar to above method but easier with a rod.

Re: Bream Fishing
Hi mate,
Yes mate have been using that for over 30 years. It is called WADDLING, using aparatus, sinkers, swivel and snaps to keep line moving in the water and keep bait on a rotational basis. This is to attract preditors like Bream, Flathead,Latchets, Tarwhine and Snapper. You can also do the same with translucent Traces now available on the market.
Good one mate.
Cheers and good fishing.
