I am all for conservation, but Sea Snake in Boat .....
[smiley=rifle.gif] Shoot First ....
[smiley=gossip.gif] Ask questions on Ausfish Later ....
Nah seriously ....
I think I would be considering the safety of all on board first.
Playing with a snake in a confined area like a boat could well be a recipe for disaster....
If it were easy to get at, and get back in the sea, then great ... but trying to corner it and getting it agitated could quite easily lead to the first sea snake fatality recorded in Australia.
Protected or not ... if I felt I had to tap it on the head for the sake of everyones safety, then I would.
Cheers
Pete
If you try to teach a critter a lesson using violence, don't be suprised if they learn it.
I dont know about the rest of you but the first thing im going to do is figure out how to get it out again, the second thing im going to do is change my pants.

The poor sea snake didnt know what it was doing, but if the situation
turns bad, and human life is threaten," then the old saying is"
better it than me! or thats the law of the jungle!

Hey tunaman, mate you a braver person than me, if one climbed in my boat I'd seriously consider climbing out if it didn't readily leave on it's own. . I was told once that most people bitten by snakes have been actually trying to kill them - don't know if that statement is based on fact, but it seems to make sense. You are to be commended for your actions, Tunaman, I'd still be there trying to figure out what to do
But where is Steve Irwin when you need him?
Horny
Live every day as if it's your last - for one day you're sure to be right!
No your right hornblower! most people are bitten trying to kill the things,
and I was very nervous the hole time it was in the boat.
It didnt look like much, only 2 or 3 foot long and it looked like it was
exhausted. I know the things are very poisonous, and to be bitten by one, theres a good chance you wont make it back to port alive.

they hurt ya if ya hurt them
I'd be treading water in a flash while the captain took care of it!! It can have the bloody boat.
We nearly stepped on one on the beach at Hastings Point about 12 months ago. He was not real well, called the wildlife cares, but he was not long for this world. The most beautiful markings. The wildlife guys were not to keen on going near him either.
Your a braver man than many Tunaman!!
Hmmm.. What do they taste like on the Barbeee???
Used to get a lot of them in the nets when shallow water trawling, had to grab them by the tail and fling em off the sorting tray back into the sea. And my point is, if one crawled into my boat I'd belt the crap out of it and tell no-one.
