it really depends a lot depending what type of fishing u want to use it for and the conditions that surround those species.

I would definitely use a braid or fused line with a mono leader. Breaking strains will depend on species targeted

Hi Sharky,

I use Fireline or Fins on my baitcasters - mostly because that is what the hubby puts on them. I have not used mono. I find that these lines handle everything that I fish for and I can feel everything in the water because there is no stretch like mono. It can be a bit of a problem because sometimes I get excited when I get a bite and rip the line out trying to set the hooks. Like snakecatcher I use a mono leader and this seems to give the line a bit more stretch and reaction time but still allowing me to feel all small taps.

Sharky,

Have been using Fireline & Harros Bionic Braid the most over the years and it's always been good. I'll use a flurocarbon leader attached with a uni-knot to uni-knot.
