PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant VBA_SCRIPT - assumed 'VBA_SCRIPT' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in ..../includes/functions_navigation.php(802) : eval()'d code on line 1 Pro's and con's of braid
I mainly fish inshore and fresh water. Pro - braid has very little stretch and therefore allows you to feel everything going on at the end of the line. Con - you can get some really wicked birdsnests when using a baitcaster.
For me, once you have run braid you will never go back to mono.
Con - its bl@@dy expensive compared to normal line!
Pro - all the wollies buy it, making good quality normal line less attractive, as its not the premier product (read huge profit margin gouge) and less expensive!
I might just be the reverse here, have now gone back to mono almost exculsively, unless deep water bottom bashing I prefer mono, and you haven't lived untill you get a "line cut" from braid, cuts really good and really deep.
Was just going to mention that braid isn't very friendly on the fingers.
We only use braid in the deep water, 30 fthms - 120 fthms, even on the shelf we can still feel the smallest touch & the thin diameter reduces line belly.
Apart from the obvious con involved in the price the only other is the way the the stuff will cut the unwary, one morning I had forgotten to tighten up my drag, so on the first bite , as I struck, line ran easily through my fingers & cut thumb & forfinger half way to the bone, ouch.

Braid for deepwater and spinning...for fish like bream it helps to feel the little taps when spinning lures.
... mono for chasing anything big as it provides a buffer....braid being no stretch increases the chance of pulling hooks ,particularly on fish that are prone to headshaking.
Mono has far better abrasion resistance and is also a lot cheaper.
Horses for courses but unless its for finesse work i generally prefer mono for its shock absorbtion.
I have only used braid since the 2nd of Feb, 1st time caught 3 barra & 2 jacks, also got cut bad. It is great when using a lure as you feel every bump. Would never go back to mono.
