Thanks Ian,
Its under the griller now
Out of interest how did you know it was legal?![]()
The skipper on the charter boat told me so
37cm and about 1kg
notmuch of a charter skipper if he did not no
Iank is on the money - when I was up north we used to call them Stripey Bass usually get them in plague proportions and just undersize...
Know the real name but like to call them stripey f*%k fish due to their large schooling numbers and bait stealing ability.
Cheers
Steven
can anyone enlighten me of the fisheries name for this fish or give me the legal size as i have caught heaps in the past and released them not knowing, usually much smaller than 37cm though.cheers
Lutjanus Carponatus, related to jacks ect.
Here is the link http://www2.dpi.qld.gov.au/fishguide/15823.html
From what I can make of the regulations, they come under tropical snappers and sea pearch and have a size limit of 25cm with 5 per species, be aware that there are exceptions in this class where there are larger size limits for eg green jobfish-38cm and red emp-55cm. Hope this helps.
Cheers Ian
thanks ian ,cleared that up ,still i think unless i get desperate i'll be sending them home.cheers alex
Stripey 100% good live bait for macks, and a good indications that trout are in the area. Also is that spanish legal ?, as stripeys have to be 25cm to keep or use as bait and if so what is the mack?
heck the next time I get one I'll just have to let it go back with some extra jewlery in it's back
Rainbow Trout is NOT skittle flavoured fish.........
fillets off them with the yellow tail or fins still attached are great trout bait to!
