Where do you live mate? Do you want responses from all over Australia, or just your city?
Marlin season in SEQ kicks off in December.

Blacks kick off in december, there were stripies on the 50 fths a month ago. Bait everywhere.
Reel Chase at the moment. Tagged 19 at Cape Bowling Green off Townsville yesterday and 17 the day before. http://www.blackmarlinfishingblog.com/
What month are you looking at, how much do you want to spend and what port do you want to fish out of? Heavy tackle or light tackle fish? Records or numbers? Stand-up or chair?

Light tackle for small blacks and sails at 1770 - go for Peter Stevens at Sportfish 1770.
You blokes are champions! Just got out of hospital from a back op and seen all the replies! where do i live=Nth Japan. bet you weren't expecting that. Im originally from Syd, Aus and the GC but been here for about 10 years and we are in blue marlin season now. tagged a 150kg last week another 7 form other boats. Got a comp coming Sept 2,3. Have a bunch of guys here keep asking me to take them to OZ fishing and they are all boat owners and highly experinced. thinking about Cairns to the GC. money isnt really a problem as long as the fishing is good. May make it a side business.. Once again guys thanks for all your info!
PS a piece of string? hmmmmmm thats the ultimate question! theres no real answer! but im gonna say "Half as long as twice the length."
If money is not a problem I can take you out for a s#@t load of money, guarentee nothing and probably catch nothing!!!
hahaha yeh just fishing! you got a big enough boat and i might think about it!
hey redhot if you are thinking of going to cairns this season i can put you onto a very good skipper, Ashley Wallis is his name, i fish with him at Batemans Bay every year. he does the heavy tackle season at Cairns. he has a brand new boat to look after this year, i think its called the Moana III, spoke briefly to him yesrterday, his first charter is friday. pm me if you would like his phone no. his own boat is called Ultimate II at Batemans. this guy is one good marlin fisherman mate cant reccomend him highly enough
hey redhot, spoke to ash, his no is 0416241586. my cousin and i went threw about 5 different charter operators before we found Ash, great operator. last year he tagged over 150 in the short season on the south coast of nsw, and got my cousin the south coast record of 14 billfish in one day !!!!!. this year we did a 4 dayer and got 13. i think Ash got in the vicinity of 100 this year, the longliners stuffed the end of the season this year at the bay, bastards took about .....800 fish......about. my name is paul, he will know who you are talking about if you decide to give him a call....when are you guys coming out ??. hope this helps.
Cheers Maxi
Hey redhot,
if money is no object and you wana catch the locals over there some fish you want to get these fellas up to the Ribbon Reefs of Lizard Island round November/December. Theres some monsters round there, but plenty of smaller fish as well. You can always be assured of a heap of trout too.
Its best to stay out for a few days, and if there are a few of you, you can get a mothership to house you, and get a smaller boat to fish from each day. It is a costly exercise but one well worth the experience, as you always catch memorable fish in these waters.
There are plenty of operaters out of Cairns that can sort you out, or point you in the right direction.
Good luck
Jim
