When you get there, go to the bait shop in the 'main street' and grab yourself a laminated map of the river. It lists what can be caught in various locations. On the other side it shows the locations and the GPS marks for all the offshore reefs. It's worth the 2 bucks it costs. Be careful when launching at the main boat ramp because the tide rips past it making it difficult to handle a boat onto a trailer during the big tidal run. The river is very shallow at low tide, without any main channel as such, so be careful moving at speed (says he from painful experience). I caught a good variety of species when I was there in April and found plenty of live bait available each day. The yabbies, although very abundant on most banks were very small and hardly worth using. Hope you have a great time. Should be plenty of mackerel, trevs and queenies now that the weather is warming up a bit.
