Land based fishing in/near Brisbane for beginner

    Hello everyone,

I am a newbie to this forum and fishing. After living in Brisbane for 16 years, my bf and I tried our hands on fishing for the first time during a visit to Straddie at Amity point, we didn't hook up any legal size fish, but we are hooked and looking at learning more about fishing.

I've been browsing on the Internet for more information and came across this forum, and thought that the best way to learn anything is to ask So, my question is where are the fishing spots for land based anglers based in Brisbane? Any help is greatly appreciated

    Thanks,
    Yuffie

To answer your question Yuffie there are plenty of land based spots that will more than often produce a feed. And are quite close to the city area.

1- Pinkenba - head out right to the end of Kingsford Smith drive, there is a long rock wall to fish of into the river you can get Bream, Flathead and Squire if you are lucky.

2- Hornibrook Bridge Redcliffe- just fish off the old hornibrook bridge, easy to get onto Whiting, bream flathead.

3- Deep Water Bend - Pine river hard to explain where this one is to you because i don't know the exit to use to get off the highway..... no doubt someone else on here will be able to let you know... it is a very popular spot for fishing out there and well renound Flathead grounds.

Not sure where you live. #But a couple more northside locations:

    - Dohles Rocks (Griffin): access via Murrumba Downs exit on Bruce Highway near Pine River Bridge. As soon as you take the exit stay right and then turn right onto Dohles Rocks Road and follow it all the way to the end. Options are either along the beach in front of Bears Boat Hire (yep you can hire a tinnie here too) or walk right of the boat ramp to the rocks (Dohles Rocks) and fish the rocks. The rocks hold some brutes. But you'll maybe go through a bit of tackle because of the snags/rocks.

    - Cabbage Tree Creek (Shorncliffe) : drive through Sandgate on Rainbow St through to Shorncliffe. #Can't miss it. Bream & Flathead are the common species.

    - Shorncliffee Pier: @ Moora Park on Park Parade, Shorncliffe. #Bream & flathead.

    - Burpengary/Beachmere: #Entrance to the Caboolture River mouth. #Access via Uhlmann Road, Burpengary. #Entrance to boat ramp/car park is opposite the Clay Target Club. #Bream, flathead and whiting. #The bank to the right of the boat ramp that runs to the mouth is very good for flathead at the moment.

    Cheers,

Deepwater Bend is at the end of Wyampa Road in the Tinchi Tamba wetlands. Try saying that ten times fast
