Is quite legal to keep 2 wobbegongs in NSW, I cant bring myself to kill them, but good eating if you choose to.

Can someone point me to where it says that wobbys are protected in Qld? Last time I caught one (and ate it) they were protected in NSW but not in Qld? Now this thread is stating that 2 are legal in NSW and they're protected in Qld?
I think there is a bit of misinformation here as I'm sure that the only protected vermin in Qld are grey nurse...........if not, I apologise and will come quietly m'lud

Guys, definitely a Wobbegong - A "Banded Wobbegong" or "Orectolobus ornatus" to be precise.
I knew that Grants Guide to fishes would come in handy, page 26 and 27 of the 6th edition if anyone wants to read more.
Actually he makes a comment that they are listed as "dangerous to man".

just had a look at dpi site. doesent say anywhere on there that they are protected.
It would appear we all agree you can take 2 in NSW and no limit in QLD.
Does this also mean there are no size or bag limits for all sharks in QLD other than grey nurse and white pointers. I don't target sharks so was unsure.

That's right Jim, no size or bag limits. With regards to size.....although there is no regulation, there is a recommendation that only sharks under 1.2 m be taken, to minimise risk from mercury content.
