    CQ bait for snapper

    Hi all
Was hoping some one can help, I've read about people catching nice snapper off the wrecks outside Turkey with cuttle fish for bait. I have never used this bait and could do with some tips on how to aquire it, wether it be bought or caught. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Go and have a word with the local scallop trawler blokes - They get a lot of cuttlefish as by-catch.

They usually don't keep it, but they could keep you a bucket full on thier next trip if you give them a liquid bribe.

I used to fry em up when at sea - about 45 seconds a side when coated in breadcrumbs and they are delicious.
(Have to bash them well with a steak hammer before crumbing - stops them from being rubbery)

You may not want to use them as bait after trying them that way.

    Mmmmmmm.....

    Thanks alot for that fellas
Pete where do you buy your 50kg lots from if it's not a secret supplier as i would love to try this bait. Have been fishing wrecks off Turkey beach and have seen some nice snapper taken, not by our boat unfortunately.
    cheers
