hi all,
posted a msg a wk ago asking for places to bring some new ppl fishing. decided on redcliffe so we're heading down towards redcliffe this fri evening for some land=based fishing with them.. they're not much of fishermen, theyjust wanna have the experience
i haven't been to redcliffe before. any tips on whereabouts? like is there a jetty there? or some where we can 'park' the rods?..
OISTA was saying fisherman's island but i can't seem to find it on the map
poodro was saying sundale bridge on gold coast.. still thinking abt that.. cos it sounds like a nice spot
finga was also saying jacobs well and that sounds really nice so am also thinking abt that plc.
i have another couple of spots in mind but like i said i haven't been to most of them before and these guys im going with arent exactly into fishing as much as i am.
could anyone give a breakdown on whereabouts the plc is on the following?
1) west end (opp regatta)
2) norman creek
3) redcliffe
4) straddie
5) fisherman's island
6) wellington point
7) raby bay canals
8) jacobs well
9) gold coast
10) pine river?
again i stress , the guys im going to fish with aren't into fishing, they just wanna chill , get into some stubbies and prob or rather hopefully catch something. one of them has even bought a mini bbq set so i don't wanna disappoint him.
thanks fellas

Re: redcliffe
Fishermans island is where the port of brisbane is, and is accessed from Lytton. At Redcliffe, you can fish of the hornibrook bridge, which paralells the vehicle bridge. To acess it head north across main bridge and as you come off the bridge turn left into the carpark. Be careful across the bridge as it is a 3 lane bridge with an alternating centre lane. If you go across the bridge and veer right the road goes along the foreshore. If you follow this along and veer right at the turn just after the bowls club, and turn right at the T, you'll get to woody point jetty (just past the pub). Has been closed recently, I'm not sure if it's open yet.

Re: redcliffe
Hey Nov-Rain!
I can help out with the Redcliffe side of things!
The hornibrook bridge is an old vehicle bridge cum pedestrian bridge that may as well be dedicated to fishing, as that's what it is mainly used for... You will get anything from Bream, flattie, whiting to hammerhead from there! (it's true! I caught a 2 foot hammer head from there a few years ago.) Drive over to the redcliffe side and get onto the bridge from there... this will save a bit of walking!
On the redcliffe side on the seaward side of the new bridge there are a couple of nice rock outcrops that produce bream frequently...
Redcliffe also has a nice jetty on redcliffe pde that goes ok from time to time.. I suggest taking a couple of dillies to this spot! Not bad for wobbegong as well..
The sandgate pier produces good fish as a quick walk and chat with the fishos on it will verify..
Scarborough marina has been pretty good with bream in the past, though lately I haven't managed anything but catfish!
I don't do alot of landbased anymore so not really up on it but in the past the spots I have mentioned have served me well!
Good luck! Let us know how you go!
PM me if you need more detail!
Jason
PS Woody Point Jetty still closed - expect a long wait for the reopening!

Also, if you turn right at the lights before the bridge you'll get to Sandgate and Shorncliffe. There is the sandgate jetty on the foreshore and baxters jetty in cabbage tree creek.

Re: redcliffe
just over the hornibrook bridge along the waterfront is a bait and tackle shop, the friendly staff there will help you on your way,my call would be the entrance to newport waterways(especially on the run out tide, anything from bream grunter tailor trevalley flathead and the odd jack gets caught there as well, ask the staff at the redcliffe bait and tackle for there best bonito, mack tuna fillets to get the results you want,or pilchards ,ive heard there i.q.f`s are the pick.Just look for the big alvey reel
