    to strike or not to??

My question is short but am eagerly waiting to here peoples comments. When snapper fishing, do i let them run a bit first or strike as soon as i can.
New baitrunner still in box, do i spool her up or take her back??

Re: to strike or not to??

    Hi JN.
Just to add a different perspective, I fish out of gear with circle hooks, drifting a lightly weighted bait down the burley trail. No need to strike, they hook themselves as soon as you put the reel in gear and wind! Don't miss too many, either!
Re the baitrunner, I don't use one myself but friends who do, and many on this site as well, swear by them.
    Cheers and have fun!

If the reels screaming the fish has the bait in its mouth!

If i'm using a gang i strike quite quickly but if i'm using circles i just let it run abit the lift the rods tip up and bingo good hook up.

If I'm fishing in relatively snag free country (usually rubbly bottom) I let them have a short first run . Often they seem to make their first dash with the bait/ lure just in their mouth before you notice a slight decrease in speed (I think this is them chewing it down) then strike and have fun!

Spool it up jewie. Either style of fishin is productive when they're down there and hungry.
