Hi. Have fished Kingfisher Bay Jetty at Fraser many years now with bait with mixed results.
I am going up in a week and want to try soft plastics for the first time.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for a first timer.
There are so many plastics and jigheads to choose from, where do you start.
Can someone give me some ideas to start me off.
I will have a week to practise.
Depends what you are targeting, there is a huge variety of fish you can catch of that jetty so that would decide what plastic you use.
Anything in watermelon colour, Berkley powerbait watermelon 3 inch probably the best. When the current slows off 18th jighead, when it picks up 1/4 onze. Make sure you get heavy gauge hooks, as with setup you will get large bream, school jew and golden trevally there up to 4 or 5 kilo.
Lots of big flatties hang around there as well schools of mackerel and tuna will pass through regularly.
How much you catch will depend on what tide you go on and if they have fixed the jetty yet. Last time I went you could not access any of the lower platforms to retrieve the fish so made it almost impossible to land anything of any size.
