jigging slugs and marlin squids

My friend and i have recently purchased a boat that is big enough to get us out onto the reefs of noosa. We have seen a couple of local dvds on charterboats and have seen them jigging with metal slugs. My question is is you can jig metal slugs and catch fish why hasnt anybody been jigging with marlin squids are they not good looking enough because i feel they would work better than slugs. We are going to try them this weekend so i shall come back and tell you how they went. (p.s) if anyone has used them could they please tell me how they went thankyou very much

Your Marlin skirts are to light and will take an eternity to get into the strike zone I think their action will be unsuitable used verticaly also, better off in my opinion to get hold of some of the cheaper deepwater jigs and give them a swim.

Horse,some of the better Deepwater jigs range from $30 up to $70,imagine getting one of them stuck.

I lost 2 $50 Smith jigs on 80lb braid off the Accurate in half an hour.Peeved off back to cheapies after that.Good fun for a few seconds.
