    Bohle river mouth access

has anyone used the bohle mouth to get to the island recently?. If so what is the lowest tide that it is possible to get in and out of the river?. I need at least 0.5m of water to cross.

If you leave on any incoming tide you won't have to wait long it rushes in. However if its already low or approaching it (2 and a bit hours out) you're better off staying in or out because you won't get through easy. Then the creek is also very shallow at first two bends from the boat ramp.
I don't know the exact figures for how low can you allow but your clearance is about the same as mine. I generally motor in very slowly staying right in the middle of the current until I touch on sand. Cut the motor and the wake should lift you over, the current will do the rest otherise throw out some poppers/slices for the queenies while you wait.
Going outwards? Sorry only ever left from there once and I made sure the tide was up enough. I'm pretty sure that if you can get out of the creek without kicking up sand you'll be right when you get to the mouth as long as you don't stop to smell the roses...

Last time (few months ago) I left from the bohle, it was a low tide of about 1.5m. Had a bit of trouble considering I had crossed previously on smaller tides quite easily. But that had been before the rain earlier in the year. So I think the mouth has silted up somewhat and/or the sandbanks have shifted considerably. So I'll just have to time it. I wish to fish rattlesnake island area, as I've had a degree of success in the past with spanish and makes for a cheaper trip leaving from the bohle other than from the port. Cheers for your reply nonibbles .

Went through the bohle today. Low tide was a 0.60meter tide and it was almost 1.2meters deep atleast through 6 knot creek. i meade it through wif plenty of clearance...just gotta watch the sand bars on the first 3 bends.

you can get out of the mouth at any time you just need to stick to the channel, ive been in and out hundreds of times just take your time and keep an eye on the sounder. on a clear day you can see where the chanel runs. once 20-30m out of the mouth turn right and head straight towards maggie island for 2 hundred of so then turn and head for rattlesnake and you should be pretty right
