Hard bodies
I received inspiration from nabs report on his success with hard bodies. Went to BCF today and bought an SX40 to try out. I am after any advice on the best action, retrieve etc for the SX40. I fish predominantly in the Pine River/Woody Point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Hard bodies
Even though mine, Nabeel's and Ando's first Bream on hardbodies was without bread. It's a good idea to use bread when you are starting. Bread will get the Bream feeding close to the surface so it helps a lot when your just getting used to it.
When your retrieving it just slowly crank it down with one or two handle cranks. Then pause it for maybe 1 or 2 seconds then give it two small twitches enough to pull the lure foward but not make it swim. Just enough to make it dip the lure's bib foward then back up again. That's what seems to get the Bream really going at it. Also if you see a Bream looking and following your lure do the same and it should work.

Re: Hard bodies
Hey,
Bread does get the bream going but they also seem to be more finnicky and more interested in the bread than the actual lure. The sx-40s are pretty easy to use and pretty much all I did was slowly retrieve it back. You just have to make sure you keep it close to structure, thats one of the most important parts. If you can get the lure to right where the bream are you have a lot more of a chance to get them to follow it out and hopefully hit the lure. If you are getting a lot of follows but no hook-ups, try just stopping the lure in front of the fish or even try and bring it in a little bit faster to make them have to make a fast decision on whether to take it or not. Just mix it up and experiment with different retrieves.. there no one right way to use a lure, so just give it a go and let us know how you go.
