    SP'S - How Many Species

    Hi

Just wondering how many species members have caught on soft plastics? I am up to 13 including a few undesirables.

Dusky flathead, yellowfin bream, sand whiting, squire, tailor, flounder, pike, trevally (not sure exact species of trevally), dart, whiptail, grinner, toadfish & herring.

    Regards

    Chris

Re: SP'S - How Many Species

About twenty five, still going strong, have found offshore fishing a good way to get the species count up in a hurry. recently did a trip to wide Caloundra etc and did thirty fish on a charter boat all on sp seven different and new species for that day.

Re: SP'S - How Many Species

    Caught nothing yet.
Will give the SP's one more go in Tomatis Creek next week up here in Cairns.
Just can't really change from HB lures and live bait.
Canoodle even sent me a dvd of fishing with SP's, but to no avail.
Can you troll SP's? No one can answer me that question.
    Cheers
    Rose

Re: SP'S - How Many Species

    hi vanurose
i use the shad style sp's with up to 6 oz leadheads troll and jig them .(in u.k)
trolling im moving between 2 and 6 knots , but then you guys can go a lot faster offshore
i get quite a few pollock bass coalfish on these , but find the smaller sps up to 2 oz to be the best hit rates just drifting , casting around
shore based ive managed to catch every species ive chased on 3inch glowing(yeah i know ) shad , up to 20lb pike
all the best in the next trail run
    tightlines

Caught many of the species listed but thought I might add Stargazer as no one has mentioned this weirdo fish that I have also caught.
