Outside Gold Coast Seaway

Hi all

I will be hopefully heading out through the seaway for an overnighter.

I am hopeing that some off my fellow Ausfishers would be share some marks with me.

I dont want nor would expect your spot x's but am just after some general reef area's etc, something to give me the heads ups.

12 fathom reef is located adjacent to the corkscrew rollercoaster off seaworld head out to about 25 metres of water & watch the sounder till it shoots up to 22 metres and your on the reef,

Going by the seabreeze forcast saturday night is looking good. It has been 5 weeks since i've been out in the boat and i'm starting to get withdrawl simptons. (skin is all itchy to due the lack of salt and bait on it. )

Anything would be great to get me started out, i can soumd around once i'm in the general area.

there are no secret marks close to the seaway these days - too much traffic . I don't fish out of the seaway much these days but there are marks for that area in most GPS books . Tell me how deep or how far out you want to go and I will look some up for you .

In you tinny [smiley=huh2.gif] Seems that you haven't fished the area much before if you are asking for marks. Not a great idea to be off doing an overnighter in an area you haven't fished much during the day Also, most people suggest keeping a lookout all night to make sure you don't get run down by a container ship, trawler, or another trailer boat.

Peak bite times are the 2-3 hours either side of sunset and sunrise. Change of tides and moon can also produce bite periods, but not alot of point fishing all night anyway IMHO.

As Chris said, marks for off the Gold Coast can be found pretty easy on the internet and books etc. The Sunmap offshore fishing guide for the Gold Coast also shows most of the reefy areas.

I have fished Oustside the seaway twice now and both we're overnighter's, no prob's here.

In the past we have chosen our weather, times, moons etc and haven't had a problem but we do take all the required safety precautions etc.

Last time we were out there we mainly fished at about 43/45 m depth, we parked up were some other boats were. When the sun rose we went out to about 65m depth. I think that that was about 10 NM from the seaway entrance.

Anything around those deeps and would be much appreciated, we would also look to a little further out if the weather was Mickey mouse.

I will have to look into getting a book with common gps marks in it.
