Re: Surf rod setup
bastud, what do you plan on fishing for or catching? and how much you want to spend?
if its whiting and bream in the low water gutters, i would suggest a 11 foot, synder 4136 blank or even a jack alvey special blank matached to a 6 inch alvey. 6-10lb line, something like some nice light thin supper 100 would be good. whack a bit of fluro carbon and a worm on the end and your away.
if it tailor perhaps up the size to a 13'6 mag surf or similar composite blank in the synder range. 6.5 inch alvey, 15lb line etc
or if your into the big stuff, up it to one of the big 14' 9" synder blanks , 6.5 inch alvey and start hurling flesh baits way out on the back banks.
not sure where your from but i could put you on to a couple of very experineced rod builders on the north side that you coould talk to.

Re: Surf rod setup
Hitting North Straddy next weekend and will most likely be doing some kind of surf fishing, possibly pippies, worms and some metal action. Picked up a basic combo from BCF yesterday to get me into the swing of things. If I get into it I'll look at purchasing a better out fit. Thanks very much for the asdvice Sniper

Re: Surf rod setup
Hi Guys
Sniper I assume the flouro carbon is a leader? and can I ask why flouro carbon? I am trying to learn about the different types of line and I prefer to hear people's experience rather than the manufacturers sales stuff. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
