    Fishing Hervey Bay

Just wondering how the fishing was around hervey bay. Would love to hear what you are catching and where. Would also love to know if fishing from the kayak would be possible for pelagics. What lures would you guys recommend for pelagics. I will be trolling about 5-6 km/h. cheers. G.

fishing the edge of the banks of the northern end of big woody with cd14or16 rapalas inanything with a chrome finish with green orblue back has caught me plenty of macheral and a couple of barracudda of the reef their it would be great out of a canoe stealth always seems to win in the trolling stakes. lots of luck bluefin59

    Hey mate,

Went up there for a holiday last year, was lookin on the gps and found a hole, forgot now but about 15-20nm out, but got into loads of mach tune on slugs on the way, got to the hole and dropped slugs to the bottom and wound em up as fast as we could, about 5 m up from the bottom big ambo's smashed em, didnt get any boated, but sheesh, most fun ive had for awhile, estimated for all hook-ups to be over 10kg.

Also try off that long jetty up there, people have caught mackeral off there and everything.

Good luck for when your up there.

    Grich,

There are plenty of whiting along the Urangan pier... Fish the sandbanks with worms, prawns and yabbies...

Etecs? what Etecs? I hardly ever see any here. (The few that you do see, well ) By the way I love the fishing here, just so you know.

Try Townsville mate. Rod Bender was on one of the 6 that got towed in.

    Dont Know him Kopey,

I do have a Yammie on my little tinnie, but never met any of the mechanics the only time I've had it in for service.

Next time I take it in I'll ask about him.

    Cheers

    Geoff
