Re: question on palmy reef
You believe what you want to believe brother. Anyone who has fished that overrated overcrowded mackeral mecca over the years has seen them. They are usually so tuned into catching fish and all the electrical signals coming from dozens of squealing hooked up fish keep them too busy. One of the regular divers tells me though, as they get more frenzied they do get more aggresive and unpredictable .Sometimes the more cunning buggers will sit directly under your boat and just simply wait for you to do the work for them, taking your fish in spectacular fashion at the last second. It amazes me when they are 'on' how close to the surfzone of Burliegh etc and if those surfers and swimmers new what was going on a few hundered metres further out.But they are about as safe as you get cause those sharks are interested in one thing FISH and lots of them. So despite their size and numbers they cause very little trouble {apart from fish stealin} to the general public.
They are bloody smart animals and believe me they will be back. One of them divers should take a decent underwater cam and doco them when theyre on. The underwater footage would be awesome.. .
Remember, its the one you dont see that you have to worry about.
