bream lures
Hi guys,
you may know from some of my recent posts that I am still in the infant stages of plastic and lure fishing.
Quite a few bites on plastics but no fish in the boat, and a few small trevs on the metal slice lures.
But I recntly bought a little eco gear sx60 (I think...going from memory) it's only about 1 1/2-2 inches long and is red clear plastic with white stripes on it.
It weighs next to nothing and has a little bib on it.
Some advice please.
Do I rig it like a plastic ie: using 6-8lb braid with 8lb leader stright to lure. no swivel or weight?
It is really light and so does not cast that far.
And what sort of retrieve? slow/fast/pauses??
They say they are tournament quality etc and I have heard good things on the posts about them.
I appreciate any advice.

Re: bream lures
Yeah they are great bream lures mate. Slow retrieve, try and work it around pontoons and the like. Lots of pauses and twitches.
Good luck

Re: bream lures..
These are great lures for bream. Try casting them around oyster platforms or around rocky outcrops near the shore.
Good Luck

Re: bream lures
Hey
Those lures are very good bream lures, although you would probably be better off using the
sx-40 as it is a bit smaller and is one of the best bream lures out.
Fish very light, 2-6lb mainline tied directly to a 4-6lb flurocarbon leader.
I've caught bream on them around pontoons and moored boats.
Hope this helps..
Cheers

Re: bream lures
do you find any problems with them being so light
I've had a couple of casts - it was a bit windy and tidal - but found that they were hard to cast any decent distance, and not really heavy enough to put any tension on the line when retrieving.
How far down do they swim?
I use my plastics rig with it - fire line 6-8lb with 12lb flouro leader tied straight on. No swivel, no extra weight etc. is this right?
Thanks guys.
