    SEQ Reef Maps/charts

Hi all, I am trying to track down a map/chart that shows the locations of SEQ reefs, at the start of 'fish freaks' marlin video there is some footage of a map/chart which depicts the reefs, I have PM'd him but got no responce, can anyone else point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Ben,

Yeah go the Sunmaps, tackle shops might have em, I bought mine from the last Boaties Market at Vicky Point.

3 are available I think, covering areas from the Sunshine Coast down to the Goldie. All reef's are clearly marked on the maps.

    Cheers,
    Tony

How detailed are they and what is the scale? I searched and found that the they have one for Gold Coast Offshore, but the info did not give away many details other than price, thanks for the tip.

For charts of the entire Aus. area or any marine books try "Boat Books" in Brisbane they have literally everything in the way of charts.

There is a map shop at harbour town on the gold coast. They have everything in maps and chartsfor land and sea.

    Re: SEQ Reef Maps/charts

The sunmaps are a bit vague and were made at a time when landmarks were used by most coastal offshore fishers. The landmark pictures on most sunmaps are way out of date.

Can I suggest that you buy some GPS marks in booklet form and plot the coordinates in pencil on the grid of the sunmap. This way you can see where your GPS will take you and the chats get better definition.

PS Make sure that you proper marine charts for legal navigation purposes.
If ya canna spear em, ya can jag em on a line.

Also, if you are plotting the GPS marks make sure you are using the samecoordinates as the map, or convert them. I say this as there are at least 3 different datums used in Australia that Iknow about.
