Bohle River?
I've nver fishing the Bohle River(Townsville) I was hoping for some tips. I've got the day off on Friday and weather pending hope to flick a few lures around. I've had a look at the boat-ramp which you access from the Bushland Beach turn-off which is in a smaller creek allowing access to the River. As you leave the boat ramp do you go left or right to the River. I've been told you need more than a meter of water to get out of the little Creek? Any tips would be good.
Cheers

If you are standing on the ramp looking at the water go to your left.
When you hit the river if you turn right and head up around the bend there is a small creek on the top side of this we use to target flathead and grunter. If you left when you hit the river this will take you towards the mouth.there are a few small drains along the way that are worth a cast with lures and plenty of snags around the mouth.
Hope this helps you out a bit.

Re: Bohle River?
Back from my first trip to the Bohle River which turned out to be an excellent morning. Picked up a small barra which was released (closed season) and two jacks which were both keepers. Also landed two good flathead, a barracuda and a catfish all on lures.
All fish were caught out around the mangroves/snags near the mouth and caught on either a flatz rat or mad mullet. My mate got smashed by another big jack which we both saw come out of a snag at about a million miles an hour, grab his lure and return to the snag in the blink of an eye. The lure and leader parted company a short time later. It was amazing to see how fast they are and I'm glad it was his lure and not mine.
The tidal run was pretty fast so we packed it in early and was home by 11.30am. I'll definatley be going back to the Bohle.........I'm usually a Haughton fan but today has changed my mind. When we got to the ramp at about 7.00am there was only one other boat there. Its good to know you can catch barra and jacks so close to town.
