For Tailor I don't think you can go too fast.
Hi Guys,
I was just wondering what speed you should wind in your line when you are fishing for tailor. I will be using a 35g silver steel lure with a red attractor on the back if this helps.
Thanks
Sean
For Tailor I don't think you can go too fast.
there is not a reel made or a person that can wind too fasts for any fish.
So as fast as i can?
not always, but the best way is to see how they respond, it may be fast as, might be slow as! just try and see what works on the day.
mate as long as it dont hit you in the head you'll be right
I USE 6.3.1- I GUESS ITS PRETTY FAST ,BUT I JUST CRUISE WITH IT JUST STEADY , CAUGHT OVER 70 TAILOR THIS YEAR SPINNING ,CHEERS.
medium pace and steady mid water retrieve with a 12g flasher spoon,if you arn't using this method you havent tried it. match the lure weight to the area and conditions
I often find with salmon if they wont strike then I try different things, cast let it sink and then wind, fast retrieve from down deep, slow retrieve without letting it sink, just keep trying what every you can.
cheers

I usually just spin as fast as I can. These guys can swim at incredible speed and lure spinned very fast can make them excited. I think these guys will bite first and ask question later...which is a good thing for us.

Tailor on a northern spawning migration (Noosa - May to Nov) will take slow lures or lures retrieved quickly initially and then dropped back in pace. Tailor on a southern migration (Noosa - Dec to April) will take lures retrieved at full tilt with high speed reels.
