    lake maquarie

hey everyone i was wondering if any of you have been to lake maquarie and/or fished it. i am wondering wait bait, outfit, lures e.t.c to use and what type of species there are. we are staying at raffertys resort they told us they have room for our boat so its going (but then again it was always going ) i was also wondering if anyone had stayed at raffertys and if the boat ramp is any good.

    thanks f1sh_boy

    g'day fish boy
dont know to much of the southern end of the lake but with a boat just north of rafertys is pulbar island quite deep on the eastern side a couple of deep holes on the northern side can catch whiting flathead jews and snapper
there is also some artifical reefs see newcastlefishig.com.au for plotting if got gps
also bit further north is swansea channel watch out for sand bars but at the lake end of the channel is known as the drop over you will the marker bouys varing depth of 2 feet to 25 feet depth with sand bars/weed beds and gutturs for whiting bream flatties tailer etc

i have beeen useing gulp pumpkins seed minows 3" with good sucees latley on flat head with worms and pilchards as bait
    all the best

the artifical reeks arn't far from u plus there are always crabs in the lake.also not far to the heads if u want to venture outside.
    hope u enjoy ur stay.
the club at wangi puts on breakfast if u want a change from raffertys food
    not far by boat

    Re: lake maquarie

plenty of takle shops around in the lake and newcastle are im not 100% sure what would be the closest but prob fisherman wharehose on the high way at marks point just north of swasea the carry every thing youll need with good advice just ask but not real close to the water
as brrbear said jews in the holes and reef at pulbar big snapper and kings hiding under swansea brigde sqiud as the best bait

just got the yellow pages the warehose is pretty much the closet by road and toonto sportpower the closest to the water im sure someone probably knows a closer spot as for bait any servo for frozon peican marina advertises bait there on the water but the takle shops have fresh

The wharehouse has changed its name to tackle world.
from raffertys go back to highway head north about 15-20 min on highway. there is a smaller tackle store in swansea.
live bait yabbies etc can be caught in lake
