    Gold coast canals advice

    Hi

I will be spending a week soon staying around Miami and I am keen to try and catch a few fish in the canals around Mermaid Waters, Burliegh Waters.

I will be fishing landbased and will be mainly fishing soft plastics.

Any advice on spots to try, what lures, baits, techniques etc would be appreciated.

I will probably try and do a bit of beach fishing for whiting and dart around Miami Beach as well

    Thanks for your help

    Chris

the canals around miami and burleigh waters and mermaid waters have some nice trevs, tarpon, giant herring, flatties, bream in them. pick the tides, mostly on the run in and under bridges should get you some good fish.
cheers good luck and happy new year.

Thanks for the tips guys. The closest canals to where I will be staying are around Lake Orr. Any tips for this particular area?

    Thanks

    Hi Chris
I went for a charter with Angus from "Aluring fishing adventures"
He took me to, of all places Lake Orr.

Had a great day and got a stack of Bream on sp's

He advertises in a few mags, try Bush and beach or QFM and look in the charter section.

I saw a write up on Alluring Fishing adventures recently in one of the mags. I was not really planning on going on a charter this time but will keep them in mind for the future.

I went on a charter with Brad Smith in the Broadwater in mid 2004 and that was the first and last time I have got a bream on SP. I have got quite a few other species on SP since, mainly flatties, but no bream. It is my goal for this year to get at least one bream on SP.

    Regards

    Chris
