Re: whats your biggest flathead?
as a kid i saw an old guy in a bondwood boat near the shore at cottontree pull in a crocodile. The old fella kept the flatty and was staying at the caravan park there. It created a lot of excitement that afternoon and it was measured at 4' 2 and a half inches long and weighed 37 pounds. the head was almost two inches wider than a square shovel head.
My uncle has got pics of it i recently (18 months ago) saw when i visited him one arvo talking fishing tales over a few beers.
The old guy that caught it was not my uncle it was a neighbor in the caravan park.
Biggest flathead ive ever seen even though i was 7 at the time it still looks right in the pics.
Jack.

Re: whats your biggest flathead?
Excellent thread guys, common size as expected as posted by many sporting fishos..Generally a decent lizard seems to be in the 80 to 100cm range.Any fish in this range is a cracker in my book and anything over i would like a photo! This seems to be typical with the biggest i could find (and have witnessed) IN The Australisan NAtional Fishing Assoc.. (ANSA) being 9.5kgs.
Anything over 21 or 22 pounds or 1.1 metres is highly sceptical and almost certainly a new oz record, but hey thats what some fisherman live for the elusive tale of a non exixstent beast! Flatties grow with the amount of beer consumed and the amount of age achieved! cheers and good lizard fishing@!
