    gps/chart options

looking to buy colour gps/chart plotter somewhere around the $1200 mark. I heard the Garmin with the blue chart is pretty good however the navman with fuel option would be nice. any advice greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Re: gps/chart options

    G'day greg,

I had a Navman 550i in the tinnie with fuel option...seemd like a good idea at the time but really the feature didn't really help that much and I wasn't particularly happy with the way the unit worked. I had a Furuno GP31 previous and was very happy with it till it got knicked and replaced it with the Navman.

I've picked up a Garmin 172C for the Newbie...haven't given it a run yet so cant give you any direct feedback, but after reading a heap of posts on ausfish where blokes that used them raved about the superior Blue Chart over the Navionics Gold, and the way the Garmin functions...that influenced me...plus the reccomendation of other fisho's I respect. If I get to the point of wanting a fuel flow meter, I'll invest in a seperate unit..

    cheers
