GARMIN GPS172C - Help?????

Hi Guys,

Looking for some assistance with my GPS. It's new and after being installed everything was fine. I was going through the "Getting Started Tour", when it froze and returned to the initial display screen (like when they start up). Being unable to get it to do anytjing including switch off, I switched it off at the instrument panel, but now it won't even switch on!

I have checked the fuse, used my garmin fishfinder's power lead and vice versa. The fishfinder works fine on GPS power source also so I can rule out a power source problem.

Any help would be very appreciated, would really like to be using it over the xmas break. If there is anyone on the Gold Coast who has the same unit, it would be great to hook mine up to another set up to see if it is the unit???

For those of you who are thinking "Just take it back to the dealer", well this is one of the perils with buying mail order! and I'll do this if I have to but would like to see if it's just a small problem before that hassle......

Hi Ian,

Thanks......I've just taken it to GME(Garmin) and they tested it, but were unable to do any better than I did, so they're sending it away for warranty exchange. Have to say though, the guys at GME Oxley, Brisbane were fantastic about it.
