Hummingbird Matrix 97 Combo

Hi all,

I would love to hear from anyone in regards to the Hummingbird Matrix 97. Any feedback would be appreciated

I am also watching the thread on the Raymarine as I too have been looking at the DX 500 or 600.

I have just been steered towards the Hummingbird for service etc

Joe,

We stock both units and we here at store use both units all the time.
The obvious difference is no GPS on Raymarine units,it depends on what you are doing with it.In deep water the Raymarine is a better unit and the display is simply the best on the market in that price range.
The matrix is far easier to use and has alot more features than the Raymarine as it is an integrated GPS/Sounder system.

On the service thing,Humminbird service is the best service around for repairs and warranties however Oceantalk are very good also.
We have very few dramas with either company.

I was looking at two seperate units originally, the Raymarine DX500 or 600 for a sounder and the Lowrance 3500c as a chartplotter.

I was recently guided towards the Hummingbird as an alternative.

I am open to all suggestions.

Mate i got one of tham i dont like at all sounder is good [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] but GPS [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
I never did zig zag in my life but now frnds call me zigy it is slow respond of GPS or it is setup i can not tell you, and it got that stuped bird's eye view ,and what is doing moving map under boat it is hard to explain

I'm running a Matrix 97. I love the color & prefer the larger screen than some of the others. Its good to be able to utilise the software to load up GPS marks for the area you are going to on the computer before you go.

There's a new software download available in the last few weeks that improved them more.

No Luck, if you cant understand the birds eye view, you can turn that feature off.
