    sounder problems

Sounder was working fine, accidentally left it on for about 12 hrs while boat was on trailer after fishing trip.

It now will not pick up the bottom and says I am in 300 to 800 ft while in 15 to 30 ft. Self test diagnostics OK. Temp works.
Totally useless, made this mornings trip to mud in the dark very stressful.
Gonna make the next few trips hard......I look at the sounder more than the water or where Im going.
Humminbird fishfinder 515, 3 yrs old , nearly 500 hrs.
    Any ideas guys?

Will send to humminbird for repair/test/quote

    Re: sounder problems

Before you do send it anywhere try to hook your sounder up to another transducer. You may have damaged this and that is why you are not getting proper signal. If it still doesn't work then you know the bad news.
Once you get it sorted either make sure that the sounder is wired through your battery isolator or set a depth alarm. It will go off when you get to the ramp and annoy the hell out of you until you turn the sounder off.

    Rainbowrunner,

As per our conversation on the phone yesterday the 'ducer is sitting and waiting for you.Bring the head unit in and we will make sure it is the 'ducer and not another problem.

Don't forget your Ausfish discount ,that will knock the $129 down a bit.

    Re: sounder problems

I had a problem with the depth reading on my old humminbird that sounds similar. I reset all of the settings to default and it worked again.

I am pretty sure that my problem was not related to leaving it going out of the water though.
