    Lowrance turning off

    Team,
I am having a problem with my Lowrance x25 sounder turning itself off whilst underway. I have checked the usual problems such as power connections / charge in battery / fuses firmly in place, etc. They all appear to be ok.

The sounder works fine when motoring a slow speeds, and whilst at rest.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be wrong? Is there an internal switch that flicks them off if it reaches a certain angle? Perhaps I am travelling too fast for it to operate and it switches off?

    Cheers.

I had the exact same problem with a previous Lowrance that turned out to be a broken wire somewhere in the power cable that would move about with vibration and pounding underway and turn the unit off . Speed or loss of signal underway should not turn this unit off - you should just lose the trace and depth readout . Problem is you have to buy or borrow a power cable to isolate if it is the cause and may not fix it . If you want try this track try the 'wanted ' section for a secondhand one maybe .

Get hold of some Contact cleaner from Dick Smiths and spray the contacts had the same problem with mine and clean out the cavity that the plug fits in with the spray and a cotton bud. Make sure you DO NOT scrape the contacts with any thing to clean them just use the spray let it sit for a Minute and spray it again the spray cost about $7 and when finished keep it in the boat as it not only cleans it protects as well.
Worth a try befor you go hunting for a broken wire Etc.
