Sounder suggestions for a kayak please

    Hi all,

I am after suggestions for a colour sounder that is fairly easy to use and understand. The unit will be mounted on a kayak.

Must be portable and cost under $500 max. Any suggestions?

Not a kayak fisherman here but I wud imagine one needs to consider the sounder that work with small battery or better still , dry cell battery such as those we use for radio and the unit must be completely waterproof too , not just dunking resistant .

Sorry , don't have any brand to recommend but just try to envisage what a kayak fisherman will face in the water .

    G'day phoenix,

I've got one of the cheapest navmans in my canadian.
The boat doesn't move too fast or deep so it goes o.k.
There are heaps flasher ways to go of course, but for the 150 odd i spent it gives a good return.
Transducer is mounted on a stick on the motor bracket.

Don't know that $500 is going to get you much in the way of colour though
