I'm from South Africa, and have been lurking on the ausfish electronics board for a while, not much to add.

I came across a forum for garmin owners - it's a quiet forum (as with most SA forums) but if you post a question you get the owner Mad Mapper responding in the next day or two - bloody good advice on Garmin products.
