It may be that you have to be within a certain radius of them as they talk directly to you through antenna on gps and not via satellite

    impulse492f,

Little late in responding, but recently purchased the Garmin 60C with V7.5 Bluechart. If you select map 022R, it covers from the Tip of Cape York down to Tasmania and then around to Adelaide.
(Including Lord Howe Island - not much use in a 4.0m tinny!).

It does cover enclosed water ways including Botany Bay, etc. Here in Brisbane, the detailed coverage goes upriver past the city (a few miles past at least).

It also provides an improved map for the rest of Australia and surrounding countries with a little more coastal detail. I would definately recommend this software. Paid $275 at Bias but ensure you
get the latest version (V7.5). Some stores have old stock. Version 7.0 misses out on Great Barrier Reef green zones data and some earlier versions do not allow you to unlock the entire eastern coast in one go, instead requiring you to pay for each section (4 in total at $229 approx each).

    Thanks.
    JR.

    Not sure about that.
    I have a Garmin GPSMap 178C with a bluechart.
It lists tide stations all up & down the coast.

    impulse492f,

Not too familiar with the area but according to the maps, detailed coverage of the Botany Bay area
extends up to Alfords Pt. Bridge (Alfords Pt Rd). Hope that helps.

    Cheers.

I've got the MAP76 with no additional maps loaded and last night I tried to get tide info by selecting locations off the built in global map, including USA, but it wouldn't give me anything. I think you have to have the Bluecharts loaded.

Steve, where do you get Blue Charts for $125?

    Peter.

For it to work I uploaded the US marine base map (free from the Garmin website) onto my MAP60C and the tide info worked when i picked a US site.
