lOWRANCE X52 /X125 /X135
G'Day all,
looking for a bit of advice from the sonar experts.
Getting new boat (quintrex) sounder is std X52, but can be upgraded to x125 for $225, or X135 for a bit more.
I'm no sounder expert at present have a piranha, never read arches, but could be keen to learn, I'm wondering if I should shell out the $$ for the better one/s ?
I fish impondments which are up to 300ft deep in places.
Any advice appreciated

I would go for the X135 if I had the choice of the 3.
X135 has higher power than X125, this will be an advantage in deep water.
X135 is NMEA 2000 compatible, X125 isn't, you may not need this now but it could be useful in the future.
X135 and X125 have higher resolution display than X52, you will appreciate this.
At 300 ft range, one pixel for the X52 = 15inches, for the X125 & X135 one pixel = 7.5 inches. Therefore fish and structure detail will be much more clearly defined at these depths
My opinion for what it's worth.

NMEA 2000 is an industry standard very similar to a computer network. It will allow Sounders, GPS, fuel monitors, engine management systems, weather sensors etc. to communicate with each other without any interfacing problems. (theoretically)
Most manufacturers will move to this standard, some already have, some will hold out and stay with their own systems, like Navman.
What will it do for you?
That's debateable.

"never read arches"
Probably cause you've never seen them on a cheap sounder. The X125/135 will open up a new world to you. Just leave them on auto setting and your fishing will improve greatly.

Yep,
looking forward to it, agreed to take the X135 so can put the EP10 fuel flow transducer on it too.
Yes cant get arches on my cheapie, but you have to walk before you run, I'm now looking forward to new boat and learning to run!!
Thanx
Ron
