Humminbird 947cx "3D" combo
G'day All,
I am just about sold on the Humminbird 947cx3D, & thought a quick post would help settle my nerves as they are a bloody pricey(for me anyway) unit. Has anyone had any experience with these 3D sounders & know how they perform in morteon bay?
Also does anyone know how the 900 series 'side imaging' can give a picture similar clarity to night vision(though restricted to 25M) Is this imaging available in other brands?
Cheers to all,
D.

Re: Humminbird 947cx "3D" combo
Mate $4000 for a sounder for the bay? thats alot of fish at the wholesaler.
I had a 3D not a $4grand one I think there more designed for fishing freshwater creeks, lakes, dams etc. where you can't get the boat over the target area. I ended up not using the function as it took away from signal strength. The 9 series has alot more mumbo though.
What size "ship" are you put it on?
But mate it sure looks a beauty and if it's what you want? get it.

Re: Humminbird 947cx "3D" combo
G'day Ads,
I'm working out the elec's for a 6M CuddyCab Poly, 150 e-tec. This will be my firstboat with enough size to get out to the many close offshore reefs available to bris north.(Hutchies,Caloundra, moolloolaba, noosa) I was hoping the 3D function would help suss out larger areas, a plus for me being a first timer to these spots. I'll be leaving the side imaging 'camera' to the pro's for now & can pick up a 3D combo with mapping for 3k, still a thou'y more than i need to spend on a sounder & gps, but if it puts me onto new spots, finds wrecks easier & ther4 increases my fishin' time then it would be worth it. This boat's been 5 years in the works, slaving, saving, so i want 2 make the most of time spent on the water.
Cheers mate.

Re: Humminbird 947cx "3D" combo
Hi guys
I was also looking at a combo and like the look of the hummingbirds but after getting a brouchure and specifications of the series have found out that the GPS and mapping systems only offer a limit of 4 nautical miles, I don't know if this can be upgraded as I am looking to go off shore a bit further, 4k is a lot of money for a combo with a nice function of side sounder and only a limited gps function. I have decided to go with two units now but unsure which way.
