HELP THREW PICNIC BLANKET [GOT THAT RUBBERY STUFF ON BOTTOM ] OVER THE AERIAL ON A HOT DAY LEFT YEP LEFT BITS STUCK TO TOP AERIAL TRIED TO RUB IT OFF BUT WILL NEED TO USE A SOLVENT TO GET IT OFF ANY IDEAS PLUS I DISCONECTED POWER AND AERIAL PUT IT BACK NO GPS MARKS EXCEPT LAST MARK PLUS WHEN I WAS TRYING TO RETREVE THEM IT ASKED WHAT COUNTRY IM IN HELP

Bit more info required. Did you also leave the GPS out in the sun?
A bit of turps or metho should clean the antenna up no probs. If it still can not pick up satellites after that I would sy your antenna is cactus. This would be why the unit would be asking you what country it is in, so it can do a cold boot.
Your marks should be still in the unit though, unless you also left it in the sun & it's been cooked as well.??

thanks heath no sun i disconected the unit to see if the fitting matched a shipmate aerial does as for the rubbery flakes it must of being hot enough to soften and stick i thought you could damage aerial coating with turps etc cheers

Even with the rubbery crap over the antenna it should still work
