    GPS Navionics help

    Hi Guys,

I own a globalmap 3500 and I was wondering how to make the navionics map follow the boats position. I came in over the bar the other night and I had to keep scrolling the screen accross to position the boat on the map. I was also wondering how to set North up option as I have heard this works well.

If you go to lowrance.com you can download an emulator of your 3500 to play with.

To set North up go ------>>>>

Menu --> Scroll to select Map Orientation

    Select North Up

I think you probably would be better off with track up option selected though

You probably know this, but just in case.
If you move the cursor when you are in the map screen you enter a manual mode where the map doesn't scroll with the boat movement.
Press the exit key and you will return to a situation where your present position will centre on the screen and will stay centred.

If you are going to one of your waypoints, go into menu & select auto zoom.
It will keep zooming in & keep the cursor in the centre of the map.

    Re: GPS Navionics help

I find that when playing with the unit at home I set it to north up, but when travelling in the boat I set it to track up.I find it easier to navigate with track up while under way. If you go off track to the right you steer left and vice-versa. Where as with north up it depends on which direction you are travelling as to which way you steer. As frankj said when you move the crosshares this goes to manual mode, press exit and it puts the cursor in the centre.
