Gidday all,

I have taken the plunge and bought my first GPS - a Garmin GPS60. So far, I am very pleased with it. One of the things I like is that I can use MapSource software to create, store and modify the waypoints, routes and tracks for the GPS. Connection between the PC and GPS is by USB cable, and the uploading/downloading is simple and quick.

I also like the interface with Google Earth (free version), that displays your waypoints, routes and tracks on Google Earth. Unfortunately you need the pay version of Google Earth to go the other way. However, you can read the Lat/Long from Google Earth and type it in to Mapsource.

Anyhow, my question is this:

Does anyone know of any cheap (free would be better) maps of SE Qld that can be laoded into MapSource? Even though the GPS60 does not display maps, it would still be useful to have something better on the PC than the chunky and clunky map that comes free with MapSource.

Thanks lots,

Mike

P.S. Something I noticed yesterday - if you look at southern Moreton Bay in Google Earth, zoom in an an area just south-west of the northern end of Banana Bank. There is a plane - a twin-engine jet. Unfortunately, you can't quite make out the airline!!
