Thanks Sundown Marine, I'd like to look into the swivel mount if there was one suitable.
Rockape, banshee told me of your solution with the cork washers, brilliant, what a pity furuno didn't think of it.

ihad same problem
but mine got costly smashed power mount on sounder
and on power cable had to repair and still got the problem
i put foam sponge under mine so it dont fall back a temp solution

Unfortunately FURUNO are a bit tight on swivel mounts. I recently purchased a GP7000F for my new boat. To overcome the swivel issue I purchased a RAM mount.

I purchased my unit from Jonnie Appleseed GPS in Annerley, Brisbane. They switched around different bases until I got the best option. I wil need to make an adaptor plate to fit between the FURUNO base and the RAM mount.

Looks the goods and is extremely strong. Well worth having a look at.
