    skk,

I have the next size up, a Navman 4600 and I think it is just fair. Certainly not a toip class bit of kit but it has never failed and it can find fish. 90m is no problem as it has dual frequencies. 50 Hz is fine in 90 m

I've got a Navman 4500 on my centre console. I'm happy with mine, I have no problems finding fish with it, it's easy to use, doesn't mind the spray that you get with an open boat. It's never let me down, I'm sure you'll be happy with one.

I've had no problems with my Navman gear Coontakinta, but obviously by your post your not impressed with Navman due to past experience.

I'll be upgrading my boat in the next couple of weeks & was going to install my Navman 4500 sounder, Tracker 5500 Plotter & 7000 VHF radio from my old rig.

I'd like to know why you feel so strongly against Navman, it might change my mind when setting up my new rig.

For the money have a god look at the Garmin FF250. I had the older FF240 and a brilliant unit. Had it for 3 years never had a problem, great resolution, great features and easy to use.

Alternatively have a look at the mono FURUNO unit.

Had a NAVMAN Chartplotter and did have problems with the unit.

Gazza.Boyne, take a look @ this link and u'll have an incling into why I wouldnt have another Navman in my boat. And this appears to be just the start of the problems!

    http://www.fishsa.com/cgi-bin/forum/...num=1133946267

the product 8nt flash for the $ and the service backup is attrocous if not existant. All problems are the customers fault until u make enough noise to have someone come out and check the thing over. A real pain in the RS coz my boat spends much of its time 150km away from the city and @ $1.50+ a litre and 18l/100km its been an expensive mistake to make buying a navman. One that I'm still paying for because I'm still experienecing problems that may now be associated with the radio!

Bloody peice of crap and i shoulda stuck with what Ive had and been happy with and thats Lowrance!

If this 8nt enough, IM me and i'll give ALL the problems

Go and get yourself a Navman Trackfish 6500. You wont regret it... top of the market. Depth is not a problem with Navman, they could read any depth they are that good.

I used to have a marine electronics shop at Manly and we finally dropped all Navman products due the never ending problems they kept presenting.
