lowrance x107 cdf or Navman4500

I need to upgrade my sounder, I have a budget of under $1000 and I think my choice has come down to either the navman 4500 or Lowrance x107 cdf being new to this I was looking to all your experiances and dealings with this issue which would be the best option. I have a 5m C/C and will be doing a lot of work in the bay and when the weather allows a trip to the Banks will be on the cards. I am toying with the idea of a combo GPS/Sounder but am a little put of from the size of the screens when split. any advice will be helpfull

Just bought and installed a Lowrance x107cdf on Saturday for $890. Still playing with it so no opinion as yet. (pretty colours though )

CAnt complain about my 107. Used it everywhere from the bait grounds off the Goldie to the Banks.

Awsome detail on the 107 ... there is also a couple of DVD's based on Lowrance / Eagle to give help with the learning curve. I looked at the 4500 as well and had the store demo them side by side ... made my decision in about a second.

You can also use it with an EP-10 fuel flow meter, which I can also say works great. I'm not 100% on this but I think the lowrance has a bit more grunt as well?!? Don't quote me on that.

i run a navman 4600 next model up and would highly reccomend the navman sounders, really are agreat sounder and would think both are same watts as each other do some research on line watts are what really counts thats the strenghth of your transducer 450 is ok 600kw is really good
pixels of screen is the other thing they talk about this is the clarity of your display on your sceen should also be considered ,just remember if not good watts doesnt matter what your pixels are must have the power in the first place

Lets stir the pot...

Navman, easily. Mainly because no other sounder can pick up depth and sonar aswell as Navman, its easy to use, and i beleive its a little cheaper then the others (dont quote me on that).

Lowrance is extremely well known and i think everyone has one. We did have one (model i can remember, though it was one of the latest), switched to Navman and no regrets. Lowrances can be difficult to operate and can pick up alot of crap and put it un-nessacarily on the screen i have found.

Good luck with the navman theo,
wont be long before it doesnt pick up the bottom or the screen looks likea dogs dinner,or any of the other faults that seem to appear..
THe rep will then tell you the transducers can be faulty or some other excuse for crappy gear..

Bugger any of the afore mentioned sounders, get a Raymarine , Furuno or a JRC . The first 2 have reasonably priced models that compete price wise with above mentioned sounders. The digital ability of the raymarine is worth every cent.

I have a colour Navman sounder and a colour plotter, Works for me. Absolutely no complaints.

Im thinking about buying a combo pack from whitworths, fish finder 4500 transom mount and tracker 5500 and fuel sensor. Both colour for $1999-90.
I donot think it realy matters what you run so long as you can read the screens and operate the equipment properly.
Dont take any notice of the pics that skippa has posted because they are false taken from another baot and he boasts about it being his.
