    Hummingbird TCR101 sounder

    Hello
We have just purchased a 4.6 Quintrex centre console, it came with a Hummingbird TCR101 sounder.
But it seems liked the sounder doesn’t work We get power to the base but when the unit is connected to the base and you go to turn it on nothing happens (a blank screen). Has anyone had this problem, are we doing something wrong or is the unit gone to the fish finders heaven in the sky Nat.

Try holding the power button on for 3 or more seconds. Some sounders require this so they are not accidently turned on or off. Also check the plug to make sure none of the pins are bent. Failing that, its gooooone.

I just had a conversation with someone that said that it could have a fuse inside the unit that might have blown that would cause the problem. Has anyone have any input for that theory

If all your connections are right to the base. Try opening the sounder and have a look inside maybe some wiring has come lose inside the sounder. If all is good then I think it is good bye for that sounder. Try playing around with the power button too it maybe the button is faulty.

    Nathalie,

There is no fuse within the unit that could cause the fault you have described.
Usually with a unit as old as the 101 the cost of repair far outways the value of the unit.Humminbird can and will repair the unit but at a charge that could be better spent on a new unit.

Bob Little Agencies just past Cannon Hill in Brisbane's east service Hummingbird. I am pretty sure if you take the 'head' unit in they will test it for free for you. Give them a call and find out.

Well I took it to BLA, and was informed that it is dead . I ended up getting a new one, a Humminbird 383c Combo. Still learning it, but so far I like it. Thanks for all your help. I will probably call on some help with understanding what it all means. Nat
