VHF radio on a 27MHZ ariel

This topic has probably been done before, but I have done a search and can't find any posts on it, so I'm sorry if this topic has been repeated.

Does anyone know if it is possible to run a VHF radio on a 27MHZ ariel or if it is compatable, and if it is, can you run a VHF radio and 27MHZ on the same ariel.

It seems that VHF radios are the way to go, and I'm going to buy one but I dont want to put any more ariels on the boat. I already have two, one for the AM/FM and one for the 27MHZ. I don't want the boat to look like a porcupine.

short answer CAMO no , vhf will not work on 27meg aerial.

you can run your am/fm on either aerial through a band splitter , you will just need to swap your am/fm aerial for a vhf aerial.

    hope this helps

Camo the short answer is not on the 27meg whip, but you can use the base and attach a VHF whip to get a signal. The VHF is less dependent on length of the lead then th 27meg and it is possible to cut within certain parameters
