Thanks for your replies Foggy. Mate i rang C-map today and the fella there told me that the map from the Pin to the goldy hasnt any details in it. They cant get acess to those maps for some reason. The updated map hasn't got much more detail according to cmap. I can send the map in for an upgrade but to do an upgrade on the tweed to whitsundays card like mine is 180 bucker roo's.

So it's definately NOT the Navman(for the knockers) and it's not the card either, it's just red tape where i think they said they cant get a hold of the new maps from Dept of Transport.

Thanks for the offer No-Luck but it doesn't look like i will be needing it. Thanks anyways mate.

And thanks to Foggy for the replies.

got the navman from the overseas retailer, cost $359 including delivery,
so it's about a 50% saving on what whitworths are selling them for. Tested it today and seems to work ok. So all i gotta do is gets some GPS marks.

Would any generous ausfisher share some of their spots. I'm looking at the gold cost or mud island.

For the pin there are not only beakans and deapht of the water but all islands are there. People who make these maps and Qld Governmnet can't come to an agreemnet, because maritime has to move beakans with no notice as the sand banks are moving constantly.
So if u go somewhere today and pass with no problem, in few weeks time, u might get boged there.
    I hope this helps.

    1. "Can't get access to those maps"? Perhaps they are not prepared to pay for commercial data access might be one reason? Many third parties have this principle of wanting the data for nothing then expecting to charge their customers for the privilege.

    2. Red Tape? Sounds more like a convenient excuse especially in this industry?

    3. The argument with regards beacons moving and the like is nothing more than buck passing. This argument with digital data does not stand up as people have been doing the same thing for years using paper charts which are in fact years out of date before any updates were ever done.

    darryl,
my unit is actuall black in front with blue rubber back. but it did have a white navman cover. It arrived on Monday afternoon, Installed on monday nite inputed a gew gps marks on tuesday nite and it's bad weather on saturday sunday, so haven't had the time to test it out. i do also have a matrix x27 but the gps antena is $230 and there is no extra card slots. etc c-maps.
the only problem i found with the unit was it came with a p&E receiver rather than a 1300, contacted the seller and he agreed to change it for me. ( after i read the fine print it did say a p&E receiver). The system works fine with the other receiver so i've kept the p&E. The other thing i like about the unit is tidal station. ( it tells me when high tide is and low tide). but for the cost a gps receiver you get a whole unit, i can't complain.

I'll have a look at the map down the pin, see if my c-map picks up something.

Mate i just gave away a gps aerial not more than a month ago that would have fitted the matrix. Pc cables and the whole bit. Spewin .
