    GPS - Sirf III chipset

    Hi

    Just got a gps for my bike of all things. With the new sirf III chipset, will pick up satellites in my garage - through double brick all around, wooden floor above, plasterboard ceilings and tile roof. So if I go boating in my garage I will know where I am.

    Also picks up satellites in about 2 seconds after turnon.

    Maybe not needed on boats, but I would really recommend for in-car systems. It will pickup through the roof of the car easy.

    Also has a longer battery life - so really good for handheld GPS - should be up to 12 hours.

    There are some external GPS receivers with this technology I've been looking at for marine environments... Good to hear that it does a good job. Might have to look into it a bit further now
